What is Puzzlebox Events?

Puzzlebox Events is the passion project of husband and wife team Josh and Danielle Romig. This evolved from a weird quirk of Josh's. His birthday parties have been "Capital-E" Events in the past few years, each with an overarching game involved. One year, a friend said during his party "I'd love to do this for my birthday, but I don't want to be running around the whole time. I want to play."

"Interesting..." Josh said. And the seeds of what would become Puzzlebox were planted.

Each Puzzlebox Event had its origins in one of these parties. The three games are different from one another, but all of them have some major similarities. Each will come with a Game Guide, one for every player partygoer, which explains the rules of the game and what to expect.

Secondly, every Puzzlebox Event includes Hidden Advantages. Each game has unique hidden advantages we place around the play area for players to find. Some of them will be inside puzzleboxes(hence the name).

The third thing every Puzzlebox Event has is something for the non-player partygoers to do. We can't always have a role for everyone who shows up in all the games, but we do offer small ways for the non-player Partygoers to get involved and affect the game.

Puzzlebox Events will take place at the Host's home or place of business. We will meet at least 2 weeks before the event to look at the space and adjust accordingly. We will then arrive up to a day before the Event (time worked out with the Host in advance) to prepare the space.

We will then return at the time of the event and run everything pertaining to the game - from introducing and teaching the game all the way to the end when winners are announced and awards are given.

The Host can sit back, relax, and play along. I like to say "We will handle the game, you handle the rest...and relaxation".

For an extra fee, we will design invitations for the event and provide them to the host for distribution.

Meet The Team

Josh Romig (He/Him) - Director of Unnecessary Projects / Gamemaster
Josh is a librarian by day, and a game designer by night. He also dabbles in writing, graphic design, and performance poetry. He’s a Jack Of All Trades who refuses to be told he can’t be a Master of all of them. This whole thing exists because he can’t stop taking on new challenges and running headfirst into the wildest ideas his frantic mind imagines.

Danielle Romig (She/Her) - Alchemist and Reality Management / Gamemaster
Danielle is a magical fae of immense power. She can often be found flitting around Fairy Forest (Great Lakes Medieval Faire) with the other fae critters in the summer as a member of The Dreamfolk. She has a day job in the human world, but that’s not nearly as fun to talk about. Danielle has an uncanny ability to spin dreams into reality and this alchemy is key to everything Puzzlebox does.

Gamemasters
Eventually, we will expand the team to include a few more gamemasters. We have people in mind for this, but we aren’t ready to announce who quite yet.
